The Five Theologies of Money
October 4, 2026 • Matthew 6:24–33
Matthew 6:24 NIV
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other,
or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both
God and money.”
Money Talks
Money is a terrible god, but it is a powerful tool when God is first.
The Five Theologies of Money
Fill in the blanks as you follow along.
Matthew 6:25–26, 31–33 NIV
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
31–32 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’
or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father
knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well.
Key Points
You don’t give to get. You give to give.
It’s not whether you have money. It’s whether money has you.
You can follow every biblical principle without trusting the God who gave it.
Your net worth has nothing to do with your worth to God.
Don’t worry about something God has already figured out.
Enjoy the gift. Thank the Giver. Use it for His glory.
Put God First
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need.
